Starting December 17th Polyphony Digital, Sony and Nissan invite GT fans to see if they have what it takes to be the best in the GT Academy 2010 Contest. The Official Facebook page says “Test your racing skills to the limit and swap your sofa for a real race car with PlayStation and Nissan in the ultimate virtual to reality racing competition”
Just a few days before Christmas race fans can download the “GT Academy Time Trail” from the PlayStation store.
In this demo racers will compete for the best time. Then, on an unanounced date the top 20 lap times will win the opportunity to go to Silverstone Circuit, England for the GT Academy itself. Students at the “Academy” attend a unique driving school to teach the would be racers a thing about driving real super cars. Finally, two of these top twenty will be chosen to apply for an actual international racing license, with only one being able to race for the official Nissan-GT Academy 2010 team in GT4 European Cup.
An arduous process for sure, but well worth it for any true race fan. Sadly, the competition is only open to those in Western Europe and the Oceanic Territories but the demo will be downloadable for those in North America. A full list of the countries allowed to participate, as well as more details can be found on the GT4 European Cup page (Not related to Gran Turismo 4) as well as Gran Turismo’s official Facebook page.
