Black Leaves Codemasters, Bodycount Still En Route

News surfaced this morning that Stuart Black, lead designed with Codemasters’ Guildford studio, has apparently walked away from his current project, Bodycount. However, the game is still due for release next year.

There are several rumours going around various different news sources as to why he’s left the project, with an internal bust-up, the resignation of executive producer Tom Gillo, and “post-E3 fallout” being amongst them, although again, these are just rumours and neither Codemasters or Black have commented as of yet on the matter.

However, his decision to leave has opened him up to flak from other developers, with Gearbox dev Mikey Neumann this morning saying “I don’t know why Stuart Black’s headlines for today don’t read “Guy who shits on everyone else’s games can’t finish his own”” on his Twitter account.

The game is still due to be released in early 2011, already facing stiff competition in the same release window from People Can Fly’s “Bulletstorm”.
