PS3′s Eye Of Judgment Turns Blind To Online Play

A post today on the EU PlayStation Community forums confirmed what has probably been coming for a while now: Sony are terminating the servers for card-battling game The Eye Of Judgment.

While it never exactly set the world alight, both sales and gameplay-wise, the few remaining players it has left are vocally unhappy about the decision to pull the plug on the servers, effective September 30th, on a game many felt was just misunderstood and under-appreciated. With the upcoming PlayStation Move needing the PlayStation Eye – a core component to Eye of Judgment’s gameplay – to function, some feel like the new audience that the Move + Eye would take in might re-ignite interest in the game, but it appears that Sony have no further plans for the title on the PS3, instead shifting the focus to Eye of Judgment – Legends on the PSP.

As far as I know, both of its downloadable content packs will remain in the PlayStation Store for use in offline play, but that has yet to be confirmed. When I have confirmation of this, this post will be updated.
