Da New Guys: Day of the Jackass Steps Into the Ring on February 29
Talk about a blast from the past! Yesterday, Dave Gilbert announced on Twitter that his publishing company, Wadjet Eye Games, would be releasing Da New Guys: Day of the Jackass on February 29.
Review: Trine 2
When Trine was released roughly two years ago, its mix of physics-based platforming, action and light puzzling felt like a breath of fresh air. Now its sequel, Trine 2, is out and might seem like more of the same. For good or ill, it is far from it. I’ll elaborate.
My Game of the Year: The Witcher 2
As the year now draws to a close, I’m forced (through the use of whips and canes) to choose my Game of the Year. After much thought and the sacrifice of two hens to the gods of decision-making, I can think of no better game to receive my nomination than The Witcher 2.
Review: Bang! The Videogame
Bang! is a videogame version of the 2002 card game of the same name. You take on a spaghetti western-inspired role and strategically play your hand in order to eliminate the other players. It is out on multiple platforms, so for the purpose of this review we’ve covered both the iPhone and PC version.
The Problem with PunkBuster
When I booted up Battlefield 3 for the first time, I was very impressed by the level of polish present. Despite its browser-based setup, the interface was incredibly fluid and easy to navigate, and I found myself awestruck at how simple it was to complete basic functions like joining a friend or finding a game.
Review: The Binding of Isaac
I showed The Binding of Isaac to my nine year old brother. Only in passing, as some of the content in there, I wouldn’t want him to see. He said, “Is it like Zelda?” to which I replied, “Well, sort of.”
Review: TrackMania 2: Canyon
The latest in this time-attack arcade racing franchise, TrackMania 2: Canyon is a smaller package than its predecessors, focusing on one environment compared to the previous game’s seven. According to TM2, less is actually more.
Review: Hard Reset
Just two months prior to its release, Polish developer Flying Wild Hog announced their debut game – Hard Reset. Along with the debut trailer, the developer promised an FPS with old-school sensibilities, designed exclusively for the PC. It sounded like a promising first game for the new studio. Did Flying Wild Hog succeed or fail?
Double Review: Dead Horde
As killing zombies is always more fun with company, Miodrag and Declan have decided to try and survive Dead Horde together and brave the dangers of zombies mutants explosions.
Review: Blocks That Matter
Blocks That Matter is about intrigue, deception and, most of all, love. The power of love towards all things blocky. It is a tribute to games with blocks. And why not? Blocks are great. My first ever gaming experience was smashing a block as Alex Kidd. Only his blocks didn’t matter all that much (poor Alex Kidd). You play as Tetrobot, a robot who can collect blocks of matter and set them four at a time. The blocks are scattered throughout the level, each with their own properties. The sand [...]
Review: EDGE
After all the legal disputes over EDGE’s name, I for one am glad to have the opportunity to play it on the PC now. EDGE has this inherent charm in the sense that whenever you fire it up on Steam, your humorous friends will flood the screen yelling “EDGE” in all caps.
Review: Solar 2
Think back to when you used to play Grand Theft Auto 2 until the wee morning hours: did you, in the midst of the intense bloodshed and reckless sidewalk surfing, ever think to your past self, “Self, this game would transcend to true greatness, if and only if it were set in space, and I were playing as an asteroid instead of a ne’er-do-well”? If that thought has burned ever-bright in the back of your brain for the last 12 years, the moment you have been waiting for is here, [...]
Review: Defy Gravity Extended
Nailing that feeling of satisfaction when you’ve figured out a solution to the task at hand is very difficult. Not all mechanics allow it and not all games offer more than one route from point A to point B. I believe gravity manipulation and physics-based gameplay is one of the greatest things gaming has bothered exploring. When done well, it is logical, intuitive and rewarding. It’s like pulling out that second to last piece of Jenga. This is what Defy Gravity Extended is: an extremely satisfying game. You play as [...]
Pandas and You
Everything is coming full circle again, Blizzard trademarks another name a few months before Blizzcon. Those in the know understand what that means, New Expansion; but what does ‘Mists of Pandaria’ mean in terms of content?
Review: Legend Of Fae
From first sight, Legend of Fae had my interest. It’s a game in the same vein as Bejeweled or Puzzle Quest where you swap orbs around a box to make a column or a row of three matching orbs. So, nothing too revolutionary there then. It does, however, have something extra on top (literally). Is Endless Fluff’s first commercial game worth checking out? Above the box of orbs I mentioned earlier is the protagonist. Claudia is a young girl from the quiet haven of Sea Cross Island. She gets thrown [...]
